Full-scale, Multi-Agency Search And Rescue Exercise set for April 30

HANAPĒPĒ – In partnership with the United States Coast Guard, the County of Kaua‘i will participate in a full-scale, Multi-Agency Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) at the Port Allen Small Boat Harbor and the surrounding waters offshore in Hanapēpē on April 30, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This year’s Denim Day will be observed on Wednesday, April 30, and will include a proclamation from Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami.

Immediate water conservation request issued for Hanalei and ‘Anini are

(6:30 p.m.) HANALEI AND KILAUEA – The Department of Water (DOW) has issued an immediate water conservation notice to customers in Hanalei and ‘Anini areas until further notice, due to a mechanical failure on the water system’s pump station. Customers are advised to limit water use to essential needs only to avoid a water service outage.

LĪHUE – In honor of Earth Day 2025, the Department of Water (DOW) announces a rain barrel grand prize drawing in April. A rain barrel is a container that captures and stores rainwater from the roof. The collected rainwater is a valuable source for gardening. A total of three, 50-gallon rain barrels will be given away, to encourage water conservation outdoors and help customers save money.

KALĀHEO – The Department of Water (DOW) and its contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. (HDCCI) announce intermittent lane closure notices for portions of Pu’uwai Road and Po’ohiwi Road, through April 30, 2025, weather permitting. The lane closures are necessary to continue work on replacements of water mainlines for the Kalāheo Water Systems Improvements Project.
