The County of Kaua‘i Police Commission consists of seven members who are appointed by the Mayor with approval of the County Council.

The Police Commission:

• Appoints and may remove the Chief of Police
• Reviews the annual budget prepared by the Chief of Police and may make recommendations thereon to the Mayor
• Receives, considers, and investigates charges brought by the public against the conduct of the department or any of its members and submit a written report of its findings to the Chief of Police within ninety (90) days
• Refers all matters relating to administration of the department to the Chief of Police
