A blessing was held Thursday, Feb. 6, for the new Kapa‘a Satellite DMV on the island’s Eastside.
The Kapa‘a Satellite DMV is located at the Kapa‘a Armory, at 4750 Kahau Road.
“When we came into office, we recognized that the DMV is the face of the County of Kaua‘i. It is the one place where there is constant traffic all day long,” said Mayor Derek S.K. Kawakami. “Most importantly, we have chosen to invest in our people. The DMV staff is focused on our customers, and we look forward to serving our community in Kapa‘a.”
The Kapa‘a Satellite DMV provides the following services:
- Motor vehicle transactions; and
- Transactions for utility payments, bus passes, and tipping coupons.
Kapa‘a services are by appointment only. Walk-in service or Kupuna Hour is not currently available at this location.
Customers of the Kapa‘a Satellite DMV must check in for their scheduled appointment using their mobile device. When a representative is ready, the system notifies customers on their mobile devices and will direct them to one of three service windows.
Appointment holders may check in for a scheduled appointment up to 15 minutes before their appointment time. The appointment will be canceled if you are more than 5 minutes late.
At this time, the Kapa‘a Satellite DMV only offers limited services. Customers seeking the following services should visit the Līhu‘e DMV location: driver's license, state ID or CDL services, driver's permit and road testing, dealer/bank services, financial responsibility, and periodic motor vehicle inspection (PMVI) support.
The Kapa‘a Satellite DMV is open to appointment holders from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, except for state and federal holidays.
To book an appointment at the Kapa‘a or Līhu‘e DMV locations, please visit www.kauai.gov/DMV and click “Book Your DMV Appointment.” Please note that appointments are for single transactions. If you require multiple transactions, you will need to book multiple appointments.
