LĪHU‘E — Personnel from the Kaua‘i Fire Department rescued a 67-year-old South Carolina visitor from the Kalalau Trail on Friday, April 18.
First responders received a report of a distressed hiker shortly after 2:30 p.m.
Personnel with Līhu‘e Fire Station aboard Air 1 responded to the incident.
First responders arrived on scene near mile marker 6 to the Hanakoa Shelter and discovered the distressed hiker. The hiker was loaded into the helicopter and taken to Princeville Airport. Upon landing at Princeville Airport, the hiker was transferred to Hanalei Fire Station for further care.
The scene was cleared shortly after 4:30 p.m.
