KĪLAUEA  – Officials with the Department of Parks and Recreation (DOPR) announce that the Kīlauea Neighborhood Center will be closed for construction beginning Monday, June 10, 2024.

“We thank the community for your patience and understanding as we begin these necessary repairs to the Kīlauea Neighborhood Center,” said Director of Parks and Recreation Pat Porter. “The closure is a necessary step to ensure the safety and quality of the neighborhood center.”

The County’s contractor, Shioi Construction Inc., will be conducting construction work, including hurricane shelter hardening of the gym and general repair work to the Neighborhood Center, park restroom, and dugouts.

The estimated closure is nine months to one year.

While the park will remain open to the public during this closure, the park restroom will be closed when painting begins on a date yet to be determined. Updates will be provided when more information becomes available.
