KALAHEO - The Department of Water (DOW) and its contractor, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. (HDCCI) has extended the intermittent lane and road closure notices on Pu'uwai Road and Po'ohiwi Road for the Kalaheo Water Systems Improvements Project until further notice, weather permitting. Excavation and waterline work is being conducted on Po'ohiwi Road, and along portions of Pu'uwai Road.
Residents, pedestrians and motorists are advised to adhere to flaggers and posted signs at the following areas:
Road closure on Pu'uwai Road - Road closure will be in place on Pu'uwai Road, between the intersection of Po' ohiwi Road and the intersection of Kikala Road from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday and on the north-end of Pu'uwai Road near Pu'ulima Road from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Motorists are advised to use Kikala Road as an alternate route.
Road closure on a portion of Pu'uwai Road - A road closure is being implemented on Pu'uwai Road from the intersection of Pu'ulima Road to the end of Pu'uwai Road, 24-hours a day, seven days a week. This portion of Pu'uwai Road is an unpaved road, without residential or commercial dwellings, therefore, no vehicle or pedestrian access and no parking will be allowed in the work zone. Road closure signs and barriers will be posted.
