Multiagency search resumes for missing female in Hanakāpī‘a waters

HANAKĀPĪ‘AI – Multiple agencies continue their search for a missing 32-year-old female Alaska visitor in waters off Hanakāpī‘ai Beach on Thursday morning.
The missing person’s identity has not been released.
Personnel with the Kaua‘i Police Department, Kaua‘i Fire Department, Ocean Safety Bureau, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), State officials, and the on-duty KFD Battalion Chief are responding to the incident.
According to a preliminary report, Kaua‘i Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a missing swimmer at Hanakāpī‘ai Beach on Dec. 11, shortly after 3:10 p.m. Personnel with KFD and OSB conducted search operations until Wednesday afternoon. USCG personnel continued the search through the evening.
First responders resumed their search for the missing female Thursday morning along the coastline and in waters off Hanakāpī‘ai Beach.
