Planning Department announces KCAAP open houses in May

LĪHU‘E – The Department of Planning released the public draft of the Kauaʻi Climate Adaptation and Action Plan and invites the public to attend open house events held throughout May at multiple locations.
"We are deeply grateful for the hundreds of residents, partners, and stakeholders who have participated in the multi-year process to create the plan," said Kaaina Hull, Planning Director. "This marks an important milestone in our ongoing effort to ensure a climate-resilient future for Kauaʻi. We encourage everyone to review the draft, share your feedback, and continue being part of the solution as we move forward together."
These open house events are an opportunity for the public to give feedback on the draft Kaua‘i Climate Adaptation and Action Plan, an action-driven plan with 79 strategies to prepare for climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
On May 2, an in-person open house and student film screening on climate change will be held at the Kaua'i Community College Fine Arts room from 5 to 7:45 p.m. The event will feature informational booths from local organizations, as well as a brief panel discussion following the student film screenings.
On May 6, there will be an in-person open house by the Waipā Foundation at Keanolani Hale from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On May 13, an in-person open house and East Kaua‘i Community and Circulation Plan Climate Change Hazards Workshop will be held at the Kalukalu Economic Resilience Center, 1624 Kūhiō Highway in Kapa‘a, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. At this event, the public can share their input on the Kaua‘i Climate Adaption and Action Plan and join in a discussion on climate change adaptation strategies for East Kaua‘i.
On May 15, there will be an in-person open house at the Hanapēpē Public Library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
