Ocean Safety Bureau

Description

The Oceans Safety Operation Bureau promotes prevention and safety awareness to all persons who frequent our beaches and provides in-service training for staff and public entities. The Ocean Safety Operation's primary concerns is to educate tourists and local residents of dangers that could occur while visiting beach locations.

Objectives

  1. To decrease drowning and water related injuries through an aggressive and innovative Oceans Safety.
  2. To promote Kauai's guarded beaches as safe visitor destinations and safe recreational areas for residents.
  3. To work in collaboration with hotels, non-profit entities and schools to promote "prevention" awareness in beach and ocean safety through the Keiki & Junior Lifeguard and Ocean Safety Awareness programs.
  4. To provide first aid and rescue services for the general public.
