Camping Information

The Department of Parks & Recreation provides quality recreational and leisure time experiences for residents and visitors of the County of Kaua‘i.

Camping Permits are issued for the following County campgrounds:

  • ‘Anini Beach Park (closed every Wednesday from 10 am to 12 noon on Thursday for maintenance)
  • Anahola Beach Park (closed every Thursday from 10 am to 12 noon on Friday for maintenance)

The following County campgrounds are currently closed for recreational camping:

  • Salt Pond Park (closed every Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon Wednesday for maintenance)
    • Reopening on July 23, 2021; Permitting to start on July 12, 2021
  • Lydgate Park Campground  (closed every Tuesday from 10 am to 12 noon Thursday for maintenance)
    • Reopening on June 25, 2021; Permitting to start on June 14, 2021
  • Lucy Wright Park (TEMPORARILY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)
  • Hā‘ena Beach Park (CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)
  • Hanalei Blackpot Park (CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE)

 

Camping Fees

All Campgrounds except Lydgate (‘Anini, Anahola, Salt Pond, & Lucy Wright):

$3.00 per adult, per night

*Fees are waived for adult residents of the State of Hawai‘i who can show proof of residency and children under 18 years of age.  A State of Hawai‘i government-issued ID is required for fee exemption.

PLEASE NOTE! WHEN BOTH RESIDENTS & NON-RESIDENTS OCCUPY THE SAME CAMP SITE, BOTH DAILY FEES APPLY (Example: $5.00 plus $25.00 = $30.00 per day)

Lydgate Campground has assigned camp sites.

All camping fees must be paid via credit/debit card at the time of reservation.

All fees are non-refundable.

Camping Permit

NOTE: You must read and agree to the above "Campground Guidelines & Rules" BEFORE obtaining a camping permit.

Primary Permittee must be an adult (18 years of age or older).

It is recommended that you create an account or sign in before starting the camping permit process.

Online Camping Permit System

Should you require additional assistance or have no access to a computer/internet, please call (808) 241-4463 to schedule an appointment for in-person assistance.

In-person assistance will be provided at the Lihue Civic Center, Piikoi Building at 4444 Rice Street, Lihue, Hawaii  96766, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (except holidays).

Requirements for in-person assistance:

  • Only one adult allowed
  • Must wear face mask/covering
  • Present a government-issued ID with photo
  • Names of additional camper(s), if any
    • Copies of government-issued ID for additional adult camper(s)
  • Credit/debit card for camping permit fees
