Kauai Bus temporarily suspends service on Sundays
Kauaʻi Bus officials have announced that all bus services on Sundays, including paratransit, are suspended until further notice, due to an ongoing staffing shortage.
After conducting a thorough review of operations, officials determined that Sunday bus service receives the lowest ridership of the week with an average of 10 passengers per route. An average of 25 passengers per route take the Kauaʻi Bus on weekdays and an average of 13 passengers per route utilize services on Saturdays.
Sunday bus service will remain suspended until staffing has returned to sufficient levels.

The Kaua‘i Bus announces temporary closure of bus stop near Kaua‘i High School June 4 to Aug. 4
LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Bus announces that the bus stop on Lala Road near Kaua‘i High School in Līhu‘e will be temporarily closed from June 4 to Aug. 4, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary due to ongoing construction. The Transportation Agency thanks the public for your patience and understanding during this temporary closure.

Kaua'i Bus announces the temporary relocation of bus stops in Kilauea
Due to ongoing construction, please note that the regular bus stop at Kilauea Food Mart and across Kilauea Food Mart will be relocated until further notice. The temporary bus stops will be placed on Kolo road between Menehune Food Mart and the Episcopal church. Effective June 21st 2024.

Transportation Agency Overview
The Kaua'i Bus operates a Public (Fixed Route) bus service and a Paratransit (Door-to-Door) bus service from Hanalei to Kekaha daily.
Fixed Route Service: (bus stop to bus stop)
5:15 a.m. - 9:45 p.m.
(Monday through Saturday, including most Holidays)
Each bus has a destination sign on the front and curb side of the bus, displaying the route number.
Although Drivers follow a predetermined schedule, arrival at bus stops may be affected by traffic, operating conditions and route deviations.

Paratransit Service:
Paratransit service is available for qualified individuals in the categories below. Service days and hours are the same as public transportation. Reservations are required no later than 4:30 PM the day prior for curb-to-curb pickups. Reservations can be made by calling (808)246-8110 menu option #3 or they can be emailed to TheKauaiBus@kauai.gov
- Senior: Individuals must be 65 years and older and registered with the County Transportation Agency..
- ADA: (Americans with Disabilities Act) - Individuals must be certified and registered as ADA eligible for service.
Printed information is available in alternate formats within seven (7) days of a request.
(paratransit routes that go beyond the ADA 3/4 mile corridor will have seats open to the general public on a space available basis.)
