Firefighters extinguish structure fire in Līhu‘e on Monday

LĪHU‘E  – Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters extinguished a structure fire in Līhu‘e on Monday, Oct. 7.  

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Alohi Street in Līhu‘e on Monday shortly before 12:20 p.m.

Personnel with the Līhu‘e fire station, Rescue 3, and the on-duty Battalion Chief responded to the incident.

According to a preliminary report, upon arrival shortly before 12:25 p.m., firefighters discovered flames in the kitchen area and used approximately 200 gallons of water to extinguish the fire. The fire was confined to the room of origin.

After firefighters extinguished the fire, KFD Fire Prevention Bureau investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.

Firefighters cleared the scene shortly before 1 p.m. on Monday.

Damages to the structure and contents are estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, pending further investigation.
