Public meeting for proposed affordable housing project announced

LĪHU‘E – The County of Kaua‘i Housing Agency announces a public meeting to present the draft Environmental Assessment for the proposed Kahua Ho‘oulu Affordable Housing Development Project located in Puhi.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 1, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Philippine Cultural Center located at 4475f Nuhou Street, Līhu‘e.

This proposed housing development would include up to 60 multi-family affordable units as well as include a planned educational center on county-owned land in Puhi. The proposed project seeks to accommodate a blend of affordable incomes.

The meeting is being held in order to present the proposed project and receive comments from the public in accordance with various State and Federal regulations.

The draft Environmental Assessment may be reviewed online at www.kauai.gov/housing or at the Office of Planning and Sustainable Development Environmental Notice website: https://files.hawaii.gov/dbedt/erp/Doc_Library/2024-01-08-KA-DEA-Kahua-Hooulu-Housing-Development.pdf.

All interested persons who wish to comment on the draft Environmental Assessment may do so at the public meeting, or may submit written comments to the Kaua‘i County Housing Agency, 4444 Rice Street, Suite 330, Līhu‘e, Hawai‘i 96766, Attn: Koa Duncan, or via email at rduncan@kauai.gov. Please send all comments by February 7, 2024.
