LĪHU‘E – The Kaua‘i Police Department on Friday announced a new paperless application for firearm instructors.

Existing firearm instructors are now able to electronically fill out and submit the Application for Verification to Administer Firearms Course completely online. The application was created as an interim measure to implement the recent changes in the Hawaiʻi Revised Statutes regarding firearm instructor verification.

“This simplifies the process and allows instructors to complete the form on a tablet or phone,” said Police Chief Todd Raybuck. “KPD is excited to offer this convenient way to assist firearms professionals in complying with the new law.”

KPD will host a public hearing at which time it welcomes feedback from firearm instructors on the process and areas for improvement.

The Application for Verification to Administer Firearms Course can be found on the KPD website, https://www.kauai.gov/Government/Departments-Agencies/Police-Department.
