KPD to host second annual TOUCH-A-TRUCK on July 8

LĪHU‘E – The Kaua’i Police Department is hosting TOUCH-A-TRUCK on Saturday, July 8, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Vidinha Stadium in Līhu‘e.

The event is free and intended for all ages. Attendees can climb in, learn about, and take photos with a variety of utility vehicles on the island. Agencies participating include the Kaua’i Fire Department, Līhu‘e Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) unit, Transportation Agency, Department of Public Works, American Medical Response, and more.

The event will be held at the south end of the Vidinha Stadium parking lot, and general parking will be available on the north side of the lot. Last year’s event garnered participation from over 500 people.

Assistant Chief Mark Ozaki stated, “This year we have a larger area, more trucks and departments involved, and it’s a great opportunity to learn about the people who help the community.” He also advises attendees to bring water and sunscreen.
