LĪHUʻE – The Kauai Police Department takes action to inform the public of preventative measures in light of recent vehicle break-ins.
Recently, there has been a surge in vehicle break-in incidents at the trailheads of popular hiking spots in the Kapa‘a and North Shore areas. These incidents typically involve breaking into parked vehicles to steal valuable items left behind by unsuspecting victims. Common targets include electronic devices, wallets, purses and other valuables that are easily visible within the vehicle.
“We encourage everyone to be safe as they enjoy Kaua‘i’s great outdoor spaces,” said Assistant Chief Kalani Ke. “We are urging residents and visitors to take the necessary precautions to minimize the risk of being targeted by opportunistic criminals.”
