Kaua‘i Fire Department firefighters continue to monitor multiple brush fires in Anahola.
Response
A 1-acre fire near Kuhio Highway near the Anahola Marketplace and a 5,000-square foot brush fire mauka, near Kalalea Road, are now under control. Fire crews will remain on scene to monitor hot spots.
Assets
Personnel with the Kapa‘a and Kaiakea fire stations are on scene. Air 1 is on standby.
The Kaua‘i Emergency Management Agency is monitoring the incident.
Road closures
Kuhio Highway, near Anahola Marketplace, is now open.
According to preliminary reports, Kaua‘i Police Dispatch received a report of the first fire shortly after 1:05 p.m. The second fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m.
