Officials advise no swimming, ocean activities at Brennecke’s Beach

PO‘IPŪ – Kaua‘i Ocean Safety Bureau officials are advising no swimming or other ocean activities at Brennecke’s Beach until further notice due to a shark sighting.

OSB officials report that a 10- to 15-foot tiger shark was sighted in waters off Brennecke’s Beach on Saturday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

As a safety precaution, OSB officials have posted warning signs and will continue to monitor the area.

Lifeguards will reassess the area on Sunday. If there are no other sightings, the beach will reopen to ocean activities at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Updates will be provided if more information becomes available.
