Police arrest Līhu‘e assault suspect

LĪHUʻE – Police arrested Joshua Thomas, a 33-year-old Līhu‘e man, in connection with an assault that occurred on Friday morning, Feb. 2.

On Feb. 2 at approximately 10 a.m., police responded to an altercation at the Hōʻike Kaua‘i Community Television parking lot in Līhu‘e. According to a preliminary police report, the victim, a 59-year-old man of Līhu‘e, approached Thomas and informed him that he was not allowed on the commercial property.  According to statements obtained at the scene, an argument ensued between the two, resulting in the victim sustaining multiple lacerations to his leg.

The victim was treated at the scene by medics for non-life-threatening injuries and later taken to the Wilcox Memorial Hospital for further treatment, where he was subsequently released.

Thomas was arrested without incident for Assault in the Second Degree and is currently being held at KPD cellblock with bail set at $5,000.

The case remains under police investigation.
