March 8 UPDATE: Road closure hours modified for Olohena Road

March 8 UPDATE: Officials announce that a portion of Olohena Road, from Kamalu Road to Waipouli Road, will be closed on Monday, March 11, with modified hours from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather depending. All other info from the previous news release has not changed. Mahalo.

KAPA‘A - The Department of Public Works and Earthworks Pacific, are announcing that a portion of Olohena Road, from Kamalu Road to Waipouli Road, will be closed on Monday, March 11, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

The road closure is necessary for the bridge replacement at Konohiki Stream.

Motorists must use alternate routes for school drop-off and pick-up throughout the day.

The detour routes are as follows:

• Eastbound traffic on Olohena Road will be routed onto Waipouli Road from Kamalu Road via Olohena Road;
• Westbound traffic will be routed onto Waipouli Road via Hauiki Road, and onto Kamalu Road via Olohena Road; and
• Local traffic will be permitted, but cannot cross the bridge at Konohiki Stream from either direction.

Electronic message boards will also be installed in the areas.
