Wastewater spill notice for Waialo Road in ‘Ele‘ele

‘ELE‘ELE – The public is advised of a wastewater spill of about 1,000 gallons that started around 8:45 a.m. Friday, June 28. 

The spill occurred due to a break in the force main. The County has hired a contractor to repair the problem immediately.

So far, the contaminated spill area has been stopped from entering the nearest storm drain. At this time, the spill has not reached state waters. The ponded material is immediately pumped down and then transferred to the treatment plant for disposal.

The Wastewater Management Division is working on improvements to the collection system to prevent incidents in the future.
